Sexting Dangers links to the PSHE curriculum and new RSE relationships and sex education requirements from 2020.
This resource is aimed at Year 7 students but may suit further up in Key Stage 3.
This lesson should last approx 60 minutes. It teaches students:
What sexting is; why people do it; what the risks are; how to keep safe; where to go for help if needed.

In this lesson, the boys will learn to:
Understand about the physical and emotional changes in puberty; how to manage their own hygiene and where to go if they need help navigating any of this.

Independent workbook for KS3/KS4/ KS5 students to consider the meanings of sexism and sexual harassment with particular examples, possible consequences, 15 activities and opportunities to reflect on their own behaviour. It’s intended to be completed by young people who have been involved in making sexist comments or a sexual harassment incident to help them reflect on their views and guide them in ways to be an ‘upstander’ ally for females in the future. It’s not a general classroom resource for all students. It’s 13 pages long and has clear explanations of what constitute sexist comments or attitudes and when behaviours can be viewed as sexual harassment. Activities include simple multiple choice, true/false, free writing reflecting on their own actions, a crossword, poster design. There’s no mention of misogyny as I feel that can be quite inflammatory when used in all situations - but you can add it if you wish! The activities are just a means to ensure that the student has read the information.
Ideal for giving to students who are in a detention for such behaviour - helps them make a clear link between the ‘offence’ and the sanction. It’s also a useful document to keep on file for students who are repeatedly demonstrating these behaviours - to show that they have shown clarity about what sexism and sexual harassment are.

In this lesson, students will learn:
What is meant by consent and then sexual consent; the laws around consent; how to give consent clearly and recognise when someone hasn’t; where to go for support.
There’s no writing requirement but you could change some discussion into writing activities if preferred.

Part of the new RSE aspect of PSHE - to be delivered from 2020
The lesson lasts around 30 mins - possibly longer if students develop discussion. It is suitable for both genders. There are no written activities but you could adapt the discussions into writing if preferred. There’s a mix of debate, direct information, video observation, scenarios and how to get help. There’s a link to recent research suggesting that a significant number of young girls are subjected to harassment, being asked for pictures to be sent etc.
In this lessons, students will learn:
What pornography is; the qualities of a healthy sexual relationship; how pornography distorts that picture; how pornography can create a damaging view of others and encourage a poor self image. There’s also advice for how to help and where to seek support if needed.
There’s obviously no pornography in the lesson (!) but it is quite direct so teachers should familiarise themselves in advance with the content and SEN students may need additional support.
